The problems with using rock salt on roads and paths

It’s how we do it at the moment, thousands of tons of rock salt every year thrown onto our roads and pathways. We know it causes a range of problems but we continue to do it.

The main problem with rock salt is the salt. Sodium Chloride (salt) is toxic and is harmful to vegetation, wildlife, pets and our water systems. It is also corrosive and causes damage to metals, concrete and other hard surfaces.
